THE SHORTCHANGED REVIEW

The Shortchanged Review was one of the first plays to examine the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) on soldiers returning from Vietnam.

The enduring impact of PTSD among veterans remains relevant today.

Production History

The play has been produced in New York City at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, Lincoln Center - where actor T. Miratti won an Obie - and Second Stage Theatre. In Los Angeles it was produced by Theatre Rapport and Company of Angels. Additional productions were staged by Acadia Annex in Maine and at the University of Louisiana.

Critical Response

"Mr. Moody's enormous compassion for his characters...six sympathetic people come vibrantly alive on stage. In common with Mr. (David) Rabe, Mr. Moody has, at times, a savage humor. The writing is visceral as the author explores the rupture between the generations - mother and daughter and, primarily, father and son." - Mel Gussow, The New York Times

"The Shortchanged Review is a piercing look inside a shattered

contemporary family, staged against a background of rock music and

the war in Vietnam...savage...visceral."

                                                                       - The New York Times

"How fitting that this man who brought the ghosts of Veterans and those who came back damaged to the stage, should pass on Memorial Day."
